Our grounds
We are very lucky at Wallands Community Primary and Nursery School to have plenty of outside space to enjoy, from a playing field to a woodland area, a trim trail area, a playground Rainscape (created with The Aquifer Partnership), a School Garden, a Peace Garden and an Outdoor Classroom, which is in the process of being completed. During the school day the children have access to the playgrounds, the field, weather permitting, the Peace Garden and the trim trail. The Woodland Area is used for Forest School sessions and by classes for different curriculum areas. In our School Garden there is a well-established vegetable garden tended by the children, supported by an enthusiastic group of parents/carers who work with the children. We also have a wildlife pond in this area. At Wallands School, we are committed to ensuring quality play opportunities are available to all our children. We have embarked on an exciting journey with the Outdoor Play and Learning Programme (OPAL) to support us with this. You can find out more about our OPAL programme under the OPAL tab.
Here is what some of the children say about our outside spaces:
‘Wallands is a wonderful place to be and all outside areas are open to all year groups.’ – Jacob
‘There is lots of space to play and learn outside.’ - Alex
